What Should You Do In 2022?

Updated: Jan 4, 2022

It's that time of the year when we all commit to some health promoting, body-changing, life altering activity!

But what do you do? Is it a new diet? A new exercise? A new therapy?

The options are seemingly endless and that's a really good thing. There is no one size fits all approach. We all have unique needs, challenges and likes so it's important to tune into what is calling you.

I say start small and keep it simple. Explore new things, find something you enjoy; or at least don't hate! There is no wrong approach in your search for health.

Yes, you may discover that many things aren't a great fit for you but as you keep searching you will discover those gems that bring great joy and health to your life.

You know yourself better than anyone else and as you start to connect with your own needs and desires your journey to better health will become simpler, clearer and more rewarding.

So don't worry about finding the perfect thing right away or feel like you are missing out on the hottest fad in fitness. Stay connected to what calls you and change course when its time.

There is a whole world of phenomenally helpful things you can do!

Here are some of my favorites:

  • Floating - Enter a zero-gravity environment designed to help your mind and body relax, recover and reset. Experience a serene world void of external stimuli and let everything go. If you're in Fort McMurray we have one of the best float studios in the world @mindfulelevation!

  • Walks in nature - Walking amongst the tress in fresh air is one of my all time favorite ways to move my body and clear my mind. Despite the -30 temperatures I still get out once in a while, but warmer days are appreciated!

  • Massages - These can range from pampering to down-right intense depending on your goals. If you haven't experienced the benefits of massage therapy, this may be the time. Fort McMurray folks, try the wonderful Yvonne Dion if you're looking for extra support and attention to detail. Be sure to book early!

  • Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) - Looking for a quick, simple and noticeable way to let go of stress, worry or anxiety? Look no further than EFT! This has been a go-to for many years and it never ceases to amaze me at how effective it is. There are lots of free videos online to get started. There are also wonderful practitioners worldwide ready to coach you through the hard stuff.

  • Stretching - So simple, yet so helpful. Our bodies need to move. Because I do a lot of sitting through the day, I make sure to stretch each morning before I sit at my desk. Find a routine that works for you and give it a go!

  • Rebounding - Simple? Yes. Beneficial? Very! Rebounding is another go to activity that I have been practicing for years. It's super convenient even when you live in a condo and the health benefits will blow your mind! Plus, it's fun!

  • Block Therapy - What can I say? This is my staple practice and is my #1 choice for mental and physical health. After 8 years of practice there is nothing else that compares. If you're looking to try something new this year, check out the 30 day posture reset kicking off on January 20th.

Each step we take towards wellbeing is a step on a continual, unfolding journey of self-discovery. Start where you are and simply take the next step you feel drawn to.

Let me know if I can help guide you in any way.

Believing you well,

Justin
